DUNEDIN, FL - STILL HAVEN'T LEFT YET

Thursday, January 1st to Tuesday, January 6th, 2015

Day 150-155
Miles Traveled: 0
Total Miles Traveled: 2481

We had an enjoyable January 1st.  John and Kathy on "Serenity" were back at the marina for one day and had lunch with us at "The Sandbar Grill".  The name is a bit deceiving.  Although it looks like a bar found on a local beach, it is not located on any beach, and is actually in the parking lot of a strip mall.  Despite its questionable location, it has very good food and the beer is the cheapest drink.  Dan tried fried gator tails.  They were a bit chewy, but at least he can say he has eaten gator tail.  The evening ended with a BANG - an OSU win against Alabama in the semifinal game of NCAA playoffs.  We were able to watch the game in the comfort of our home, "Seahorse", due to excellent cable service at Marker 1 Marina.

Due to some windy weather, we were not able to head to our next destination, so we spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday doing some boat chores and testing out our new radar and chart plotter.  Seahorse must not have been as good as we thought while we were gone.  The chart plotter Santa left for her was not functioning properly - it would not communicate with the auto pilot or the radar consistently.  Our installer assessed the problem on Monday and decided the chart plotter was defective.  We think King Neptune is trying to keep us from leaving Dunedin, FL.  Not only is he kicking up the wind on a regular basis, but, he also is teaming up with West Marine.  The chart plotter that we need was not in stock and would not be in stock for at least another 3 days.  Our planned departure from Marker 1 Marina on Tuesday is now postponed until ?????.  Fortunately, we are very happy at Marker 1 Marina.  The staff are all very friendly and helpful.  It is located within walking distance to everything we need - groceries, restaurants, laundry, hair salon, barber shop, and even a small beach.

Tuesday evening we took advantage of still being in Dunedin and walked to Frenchy's Outpost Bar and Grill.  Tuesdays are "Taco Tuesdays", and, they have great fish and pulled pork tacos at $3 and $2 each.  We have gone there every Tuesday that we have been in Dunedin.

One thing we never tire of here in Dunedin are the sunsets.  Sometimes we see them from the marina and sometimes we view them from the beach.  Each is spectacular in its own way.
