Day 102
Miles Traveled:  80
Total Miles Traveled: 2005

We left bright and early since we needed to travel 80 miles to get to our planned anchorage.  First thing was locking through the Coffeeville Lock.  This was the last lock we will have to go through until about March 2015.  Yeah !!!

It was a better travel day than the previous two days.  Still cold, barely got up to 50 degrees, but was very sunny which heated up the enclosed flybridge nicely.  Dan hoped to be in his bathing suit by midday.  That didn't happen, but we were able to layer down to T-shirts for a while.

Now for a little bit of trivia.  The moss hanging from many of the trees along this river is Spanish Moss.  It actually is not a true moss.  It is a member of the pineapple family and survives by absorbing water from the air.  A thank you to Fred Myers for this little bit of trivia.

We entered a new body of water at the end of our cruising day.  The Alabama River joins the Tombigbee River (which we were on) and creates the Mobile River (which we are now on).

A beautiful anchorage awaited us on the Tensaw River.  This is a popular anchorage for many boaters because o perfect depth for anchoring, protection from most winds, and plenty of room for swing on the anchor so that a second anchor doesn't have to be used.  When we arrived there were already five boats at anchor, but room for plenty more.
