Day 344
Miles Traveled: 6
Total Miles Traveled: 5127

We traveled today with Charlie & Kay on "Plane 2 Sea".  Our journey was short today which allowed us to arrive early at Campbellford and take in the sites.  We docked at Old Mill Park Boat Docking which is right on the Trent Severn Canal in downtown Campbellford.  The Trent Severn Canal runs right through the middle of this town.  Shortly after arrival, we headed out to find some lunch.  Charlie & Kay joined us and we found a nice cafe.  Kay had her first taste of poutine.

After lunch, we headed out for two very important stops in Campbellford:  The World's Finest Chocolate Outlet Store for chocolates and Dooher's Bakery for butter tarts.  In addition to the butter tarts, we also picked up some strawberry tarts since strawberries are currently in season here in Canada.

In preparation for eating the sweet treats we just purchased, we decided to take the mile long hike along Rotary Trail.  The trail runs along both sides of the Trent Severn Canal.

You cross over to the other side at Lock 12 which is located near Ranney Falls and the Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge.  We got a view of this bridge before locking through earlier in the day.

We walked across this suspension bridge and got a great view of Ranney Falls on the Trent River.  Although not very big falls, they still were very beautiful.

Campbellford, Ontario has been named the Home of the Two Dollar Coin, also known as the Toonie.  A local artist created the polar bear that was used on this coin.  In recognition of being the Home of the Toonie, a large Toonie has been placed in Old Mill Park.  This large Toonie is 18 feet in diameter.  Below is the comparison of a real Toonie and the large Toonie.

Since the only room in the fridge was for chocolate and tarts, we went out for dinner - pizza at Apollo's.
