Day 367
Miles Traveled: 60
Total Miles Traveled: 5547
After
listening to the weather forecast to confirm there were smaller waves than
yesterday, we untied our lines and headed down Byng Inlet to Georgian Bay. The Bay was much calmer this morning and the
ride was very comfortable. We had views
of some beautiful mountains for most of the day.

Towards
the end of our travel day, we choose to end the days trip with a scenic protected
route through Beaverstone Bay
and Collins Inlet. It added about one
hour to our travel day, but, the scenery was well worth the effort. Beaverstone Bay was full of beautiful
islands and hillside cliffs. One rock
cliff looked like a waterfall.

Beaverstone Bay brought us to Collins
Inlet. A much smaller waterway and more
remote. The banks were covered with
beautiful evergreens and the shores were mostly undeveloped with very few cottages.
|
Collins Inlet |
One rock
formation within Collins Inlet is well known and called "Crabby
Indian". Can you see him? How could anyone be crabby surrounded by all this beauty?

After
leaving Collins Inlet, we approached the landmark that marked the end of our
travels on Georgian Bay
- the Killarney Lighthouse.

We docked at Killarney Mountain Lodge Marina late afternoon. We quickly got our lines tied and connected
to power and water, and then, set off to check out the area. It didn't take long to see the sites -
Pitfield's General Store and Herbert's Fishery. Pitfield's General Store has all the basic food needs, even meats and produce. Because of the remote location, the prices were high. We had just gotten provisions, so, we just looked around the store.

Herbert's
Fishery is a fish and chip snack shop.
There are only two items on the menu - fish and chips. It used to be run out of an old school bus,
but, now is run out of a simple building.
On our walk, we ran into Jesse & Linda from "Bama
Dream". They were docked at a
different marina. We had dinner with
them at Herbert's and caught up on our travel adventures.
We are so glad you took the time to cruise through Collins Inlet! It was one of the most memorable times on our trip. We love following your journey and doing it a second time through your blog. Thanks! Kathy & John
