Day 345-346
Miles Traveled on
Thursday: 20
Total Miles Traveled:
5147
We awoke Wednesday morning and were making
preparations to get underway. As we were
unhooking the power cords, we noticed that the wind was really blowing. We looked at each other and asked "Do we
really want to travel in this?".
The answer was "No".
So, we hooked the power cords back up and decided to stay another day at
Campbellford. We got down the red wagon
and went to the No Frills (yes it is called this) grocery store for some water
and milk. Next stop was The Beer
Store. In Canada beer is sold
at The Beer Store. Although it is a
large building, where you order is relatively small. The types of beer that are carried are
displayed on a shelf with one can. You
can get single cans, 4 packs, 6 packs, or 12 packs. Once ordered, your beer arrives from the back
of the store on a conveyor belt. Pretty
Cool !
That evening the town of Campbellford had Melodies in the Old Mill Park which was right next
to the wall we were tied alongside. We
joined Dave & Penny from "Penny Pinchin" for cocktails and music.

Thursday the wind was much less so we headed
on our way. The scenery today was a mix
of uninhabited shorelines and cute cottages with boat houses.

We ended our day tied up to the Lock 18
mooring wall in Hastings , Ontario . There ended up being three Mainships
350/390's all tied up to this same wall.
"Seahorse" had some relatives on the dock.

After dinner, several of us met with Gold Looper Steve from "Barefoot Shoes". Steve and his wife, Rae, keep their boat on the North Channel and are very familiar with those waters. We all grabbed our charts and got a crash course on great places to see and where to anchor on the North Channel and Georgian Bay. It is people like Steve that make the AGLCA such a great organization.
