Day 282
Miles Traveled: 46
Total Miles Traveled: 3669
We were finally underway again. The day started with traveling along the "Mighty Neuse" River. The wind and waves were on our bow, which made the cruise more tolerable. Craig & Donna on "Mighty Fine", who have a Mainship almost the same as ours, passed us by. As we watched them cruise along, we got an idea of what our boat looked like slicing through the waves.
"Mighty Fine" taking on the waves of the Neuse River |
Turning off of the Neuse River, we entered the Bay River. Off of the Bay River, we entered Goose Creek. We saw beautiful tree lined landscape on both sides.
Goose Creek |
Goose Creek took us to the Pamlico River, which we crossed, to get to the Pungo River. We turned off of the Pungo River and headed north to Dowry Creek Marina.
Dowry Creek Marina |
We and Craig & Donna from "Mighty Fine" used the marina's courtesy van to go to downtown Belhaven, NC. It was an interesting trip given that the windows would not open and the air conditioner fan wasn't working. Craig and Dan rode with their doors half open so we all didn't suffer heat stroke. There was not much in town except for a very nice ACE hardware store. It was a quick trip to town. After "docktails" in the boater's lounge, we returned to "Seahorse" for dinner.
Oh no does that mean you missed the best fried chicken in NC at Fish Hooks or the famous steamed mussels and sausage with cheese at Spoon River? Say you got ice cream at Farm Boys.please....
